April Update – Trees Down

Filed under: Uncategorized — theois @ 6:44 pm

In January 2009, the warmest day of winter, almost 65 degrees, tons of snow on the ground and sunny skies, the Deering Tree guys showed up and very quickly cut down 2 trees at the front of the hotel.  Now you can see the hotel again from the lake!  Theo took photos of the whole thing while Julie and I watched.
It was a really neat day.
Take a look!

Winter lasted a long time this year.  183 inches of snow fell.  There is still a pile at the end of my driveway where Scott piled it all winter long.  But I really like snow so it only started bothering everyone when it snowed in April but it melted.  The grass is greening up quickly now and soon the leaves will be unfolding.  Our first guests arrive Saturday May 2.  They will be here for 28 days taking the Yoga Teacher Training class at Union/Yoga in Lake Leelanau.

So we are extending our season here at Fountain Point.  We hope we will see you for the Cherry Blossoms around May 18th.
Or perhaps you are still thinking of coming with your families this summer.  We have some availability but peak season is filling up nicely.  The Tree House is available August 1-8, a result of a cancellation.  The Tree House is for 10 people.  We also will be open until Mid-October, offering you a great opportunity to see the harvest time in Leelanau.

We hope you will make the trip for the peace and tranquility of spring and autumn in the center of Leelanau at your Fountain Point.
